Burn The Boats: Choosing Truth Over Perception

Published on: 7th September, 2026

When Julius Caesar's legions landed on the shores of Britain, he did something no general does twice: he burned every ship that got them there. No perception of an easy retreat home was going to survive that fire, only the truth that conquest was now the only option left. This week we ask what happens when a Christian does the same thing with their own life, and why so much of what we call “belief” is actually just perception dressed up as conviction. We trace it from Paul's dramatic reversal in Philippians 3 to Pharaoh's paranoid miscalculation in Exodus, and land on what total, no-way-back commitment to Jesus actually looks like. Key verse: 1 Peter 2:9.
